When RAM set out to energize truck enthusiasts with its Conquer the HEMI activation, KARMA jack was there to document every adrenaline-pumping moment. Our team focused on creating dynamic photo and video content that showcased the raw power of RAM’s legendary HEMI engine in their new trucks, its own monster truck, and the excitement of the interactive experience that featured a mechanical RAM that fans could attempt to ride. RAM and NASCAR’s CEO were present, as well as former UFC Middleweight Champion, Anderson Silva. Watch the video here.

Project Overview

Companies are often doing what they do best, but lack the time and resources to document it. EventNext does amazing things, but rarely have the assets to showcase how unique and disruptive their activations are for the automative industry. When they tagged us in for help after seeing our work with the Detroit Grand Prix, we were honored to spread our wings and play with all kinds of brands. With backgrounds in the music industry and live events, our creative team was ecstatic to get the RAM activation and EventNext teams content they truly deserve… because who doesn’t like watching people fall off a mechanical ram?!

The Challenge

Timing was everything. Even with a loose schedule to follow, we had limited time to capture RAM and NASCAR’s press conference, Anderson Silva’s appearance, Stellantis staff riding the RAM, and covering the truck tours in between. We knew we had to prioritize the return of RAM to NASCAR, and more importantly the reintroduction of the classic hemi into their trucks. Filming outside of Michigan International Speedway also meant an influx of attendees and varying times with little information or forecasting on when they’d swarm. Our creative content was to help EventNext promote their awesome activation, while our additional unedited footage was for Stellantis’ creative team to edit.

Our Approach

Our creative team worked closely with EventNext to get their renderings of the event in advance. The placement of the vehicles, the unique mechanical bull centerpiece, and the celebrity autograph session had to be thoughtfully laid out. Choosing the sweet spots of the event helped us navigate time to focus on the trucks and RAM’s experts guiding intrigued fans on tours when it was slower, then we captured the large lines when a large audience showed up for the NASCAR event eager to “ride the RAM” and free swag. The goal was get people interacting with the logos, and ideally, switch truck drivers from whatever they’re driving to RAM. Having two people handling videography, with one creative switching between photo and video made a massive difference.
